Created by Need, Driven by Desire

MCPC Systems started life in 1998. Its first ‘office’ was the attic of a family home in a small village in North Wales, where our founder Dave Cartner spent his evenings and weekends learning how to programme Microsoft Access databases.

Back then, MCPC wasn’t even on Dave’s horizon. Neither was writing software (he was always a gardener at heart). Really, all Dave wanted was a piece of kit to help him do his job better. He had worked in local government parks, grounds and facilities maintenance for nearly 30 years, and was fed up of trying to keep track of the stacks of paperwork for all his vital management information.

Created by Need

Dave shopped the software market for a product that would suit his needs, and then took to the attic when he couldn’t find one.

Eventually, he emerged with Down to Earth (now Orka): the first truly comprehensive, purpose-built software solution for managing green space contracts. He created Colony next –allowing him to finally go paperless with his allotment management records as well.

These days, MCPC no longer trades from the attic but is a fully-fledged independent software house with a team of experienced developers, trainers and support staff.

Driven by Desire

It’s still a family business, with family values and ethics. Our desire to continue on the innovative path while staying truly customer focused continues to drive everything we do.

We are still incredibly proud of our company’s formation. It remains the cornerstone of who we are and why we do what we do.

To date, we’ve worked with 100’s of organisations across the UK – including local government and their contracting organisations – to transform their services using our software and expertise.

The MCPC Journey So Far

Our software now incorporates mobile working, cloud-hosting, API availability and heaps of integration options. We have been recognised as an Investors in People organisation, and are backed up by numerous accreditations including Cyber Essentials Plus and SQMAS (quality management system).
